Whatโs a book or movie that genuinely scared you?
Verity by Colleen Hover. This book truly scared me. It had an eerie feeling to it. The eerieness was very extreme for me I could almost touch it. I read it in 2023 and I was living alone in a small town. I’d read the book mostly at night because that’s when I had the time too. And every time I turned a page I’d be mad at myself for knowingly scaring myself. It got to a point where even when the writer described how the curtains were moving it would still freak me out… Even a very random thing like a spoon dropping. You know. There was just something really dark about that story but in a very simple way.
So whenever I closed the book for the night, I was always sure there was no way I was going to manage any sleep. So technically I had very many sleepless nights before I finished the book and even after I’d finished the book. It’s a small book but it took me a while to finish it… at times a page would be so intense for me in a way that I’d just slump the book down, unable to process everything else I had felt after reading a particular paragraph and after that I required a few days just to recover ., you know….
